Located in the heart of George Town, Pulau Pinang, Hanabi Udini Square offers a delightful escape into the world of Japanese cuisine. This restaurant has garnered a range of reviews, showcasing both its culinary strengths and areas for improvement.
Among the highlights, the Buta Kakuni Set has received rave reviews for its tender pork belly, described as flavorful and memorable. Meanwhile, the Unagi Sushi is a clear favorite, celebrated for its rich taste. Customers appreciate the ika sugata, noted for its perfectly BBQ'd texture. While the price may tilt towards the higher end, suggestive of a premium experience, many patrons find the quality justifies the cost.
However, some dishes could benefit from refinement. The sushi combination sometimes lacks variety, and the cheese tofu is considered overly salty by some diners. Service is generally praised for being friendly, and the atmosphere is cozy, although the restaurant’s size can make it feel intimate rather than spacious. Innovative promotions, like a 50% discount on the second set order, add extra value to the dining experience.
Overall, Hanabi Udini Square stands out as a worthwhile destination for Japanese food enthusiasts, promising a unique blend of flavors amidst a welcoming environment.

We had our late lunch here. We have salmon mango, sushi combination, ika sugata,...etc. We like the Ika sugar as the ika meat not too hard and still can smell the BBQ. Sushi combination is too simple in the sorted, if they can provide more raw fish sushi will be good. We like the soba as it is well prepared. Garlic fried rice is good too to try. As for the salmon mango, personally doesn't like it as too much of soya sauce. I'm always assume it should be dry... Can have a try.
Quite hard to spot this shop, the easiest way to find it is by the linked bridge to Lotus, it is at the same floor as Frank Laurent Coffee. The unagi sushi was my favourite!! Other food is good too but the cheese tofu is a bit salty for me. Maybe can skip that. The price is on the higher end. Ordered 6 dishes as pic cost about Rm100. However do expect at least 20 min waiting time although I cannot spot muhc people when I visited around 3pm+ for late lunch.
Been here regularly . Today I can’t help but post a review here because I just love the food. The sets we ordered were delicious especially the Buta Kakuni Set. The pork belly is so flavorful that it lingers in the mouth after biting into it. Memorable!
Second time here Dinner with family. Good value for money with the sets. Nice food and friendly staff.
Taste: Good Portion: Average Price: a bit pricey Service: Friendly Atmosphere: not really a big restaurant but cozy with aircond. Service Charge: 10% Promotion with 50% discount on 2nd set order on their specific set
Pleasent surprise quality of food is good. Not the cheapest but I would say reasonable. I have only tried the Ramen for now its pretty good. The egg is amazing. Compliments well with the savory soup. Comfortable sofa seatings. Bright natural light inside. Recommend for a nice lunch. Will want to be back to try other food.
Some of the sets are value for money - 60 bucks for 2 sets or something. The shoyu ramen I had was quite おいし but was a wee tad too salty. Hospitality was good and would definitely revisit to try other stuff on the menu.
Visited several times already. This place serve comforting food in big portions. Here’s what we tried : 1. Ko Ebi ⭐⭐⭐ - It is deep fried in light batter, not oily and crispy however the shrimp itself not really fragrant. It would help more if they could sprinkle some sea salt at least. 2. Kamo Yaki Meshi ⭐⭐⭐ - Smoked Duck fried rice in big portions and well seasoned. 3. Tako Yaki ⭐⭐⭐ - Decent takoyaki with thin crispy skin. 4. Tsukimi Udon ⭐⭐⭐⭐ - Clear flavourful dashi soup with springy smooth udon and delicious ajitama. I’ve repeatedly ordered this noodle each time visit. 5. Oyako Don ⭐⭐⭐ - Big portions and ingredients. The dashi were nice and chicken quite tender. 6. Ten Don ⭐⭐⭐ - Lots of ingredients and the shrimp is fresh and springy to bite. 7. Saba Shioyaki Set ⭐⭐⭐ - Fresh and quite big half salt grilled fish however the salt not enough. 8. Hanabi Ramen ⭐⭐⭐⭐ - Spicy hearty ramen with lots of ingredients. Big portion and satisfying noodles. 9. Wakatori Karaage ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - Crispy, juicy and well marinated fried chicken that we keep having it! 10. Nabe Yaki Udon ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - Perfectly cooked springy udon noodles with savory dashi soup. Lots of ingredients given as well. I’ve requested to change normal semi cooked egg into ajitama which is perfect for me. 11. Cha Shu Yaki Meshi ⭐⭐⭐⭐ - Big portion fried rice with wok hei. 12. Buta Kakuni Ramen ⭐⭐⭐ - A bit oily but overall still nice. 13. Chawanmushi ⭐⭐⭐ - Smooth savory steam egg with great dashi. Overall we quite enjoyed this place although they’re not really special but comforting food. There’s 10% service charge but no SST.
